With outstanding participation from professionals and leaders from different Latin American countries, the specialized course “Social Management and Territorial Development in Mining Environments” came to a successful conclusion. This initiative was promoted by ICSI, Insuco, and IFSRA (Institute for Social Research in Africa), in partnership with UTEC Posgrado Peru.

In a constantly evolving sector, social management today demands more than just spaces for dialogue: it requires technical tools, strategic vision, and capabilities to generate real and sustainable impacts in the territories. During the course, participants strengthened their skills to understand and manage the social and territorial challenges that arise in mining contexts, promoting development processes that bring together actors, institutions, and communities.

Throughout the program, participants shared lessons learned, methodologies, and practical experiences that allowed them to reflect on the role of responsible mining in territorial development, reaffirming the importance of building solutions that strengthen local capacities and open up sustainable opportunities beyond extraction.

The course addressed, among other topics:

  • Diagnosis and planning with a territorial approach.
  • Key factors for sustainable development in mining environments.
  • International frameworks and experiences in Latin America in social management and territorial governance.

The relevance of territorial leadership, based on empathy, resilience, and the capacity for dialogue, was also highlighted as a central element in connecting actors and generating long-term development processes.

With this training experience, the partner organizations reaffirm their commitment to strengthening capacities to promote strategic social management and contribute to the construction of more sustainable and inclusive territories.
