In a context marked by uncertainty regarding the future of extractive activities, ICSI, through the Observatory of Territorial Transformations (OTT), promoted the development of the “Narrative of the Just Energy Transition in the Cesar Corridor,” a digital story that brings together the diversity of voices from the territories.
This narrative has become an advocacy tool that reflects the expectations, needs, and gaps identified by the voices of the territory itself. The result provides a better understanding of the perceptions and priorities of the communities directly impacted by coal mining and contributes to decision-making in the energy transition process.
The narrative was structured based on the analysis of five key dimensions:
- Governance
- Education
- Economy
- Sustainability
- Energy
This progress was made possible thanks to the coordinated work between ICSI, Programa de Desarrollo y Paz del Cesar y La Guajira (PDPCG), EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative), and the Technical Secretariat of EITI Colombia, with the support of the Ford Foundation.
This process is being developed within the framework of the Observatories of Territorial Transformations (OTT), a methodology built on Insuco’s experience and lessons learned for monitoring and accompanying transformations in the territories. Its implementation is led by ICSI and funded by the Ford Foundation.
