After a month of training, journalists, communicators, social leaders, and students from La Guajira completed the Diploma in Energy Narratives, a learning space aimed at strengthening their ability to communicate in a rigorous, critical, and contextualized manner the processes associated with a just energy transition in the region.

During the training process, participants delved into topics such as renewable energy, climate change, decarbonization, and intercultural dialogue, incorporating new tools to narrate the transformations that La Guajira is undergoing from a territorial perspective and with social sensitivity.

The course promoted a space for exchange and reflection on the role of journalism and communication in contexts of productive and social transformation, highlighting the importance of constructing narratives that integrate the diversity of voices and experiences present in the territory.

This initiative is part of ICSI’s commitment to strengthening local capacities with a territorial focus, connecting research, training, and action to accompany processes of social transformation through knowledge and participation.

Among the main contributions of the training process are:

  • Strengthening local capacities, enabling participants to analyze the challenges of reporting on energy transition from a critical, responsible, and socially conscious perspective.
  • Promoting territorial governance, creating spaces where journalists, social leaders, and young people can come together to construct narratives that reflect the diversity of perspectives in the territory.
  • Applying a territorial approach, recognizing and highlighting local knowledge, community concerns, and dynamics specific to La Guajira in dialogue with global debates on energy justice.

The Diploma in Energy Narratives was made possible thanks to the joint work of ICSI, Centro Regional de Empresas y Emprendimientos Responsables (CREER), Transforma, la Mesa ANDI Más La Guajira, and the University of La Guajira, reaffirming the commitment of the participating organizations to promote responsible information that is close to the realities of the communities in the territory.
